Art- Spring Wonderland

Spring Wonderland is a piece of art I created inspired by a collaboration of ideas that resulted in this pretty little acrylic painting.

Spring: This one is an obvious one, because the title is called ‘Spring Wonderland’ the flowers and roses scream spring. The abstract floral shape is actually  made by using a piece of lace as a stamp, which I thought created an beautiful effect.

Easter Eggs: The colours are also a inspiration of Easter eggs and Easter candies, yum!

Psychedelic 60’s: The wonderful swirls are reminiscent of the 60’s art and lava lamps, I thought this would make the art piece more playful with a touch of magic.

Spring Choker DIY

This diy is based on 2 current spring trends that I love, romanticism and chokers.

Romanticism, revolves around femininity, lace, jewels and sensuality and chokers a 90’s trend that has come back, has been in trendy for some time now and has transitioned from winter to spring. I came up with this diy choker idea when I realized there were very few options for white lace choker,so I thought why not create my own!

Most of the supply items that I used can be found at an art store like Michael’s and sometimes Dollarama. Here are the following steps:

Choker diy 3

Getting supplies and creating the tassel pendant.

Step 1: Get some white lace, pearl pendants, white thread, gold chain, ribbon crimp closure, pliers and scissors.

Step 2: This step is optional if you want to add the tassel pendant, other wise you can go on to step 3.Get the white thread, cut a piece of thread ( 2-3 inches) centre it at a level, at which size you want the tassel bulb to be. Then start tying 2 or 3 knots till it feels secure. Cut the remaining threads at the bottom at a length you prefer.

Attaching pearl pendant to tassel and attaching it to lace.

Step 3: Get a pearl or diamond pendant, I got my pearl pendant from Michael’s, I personally think that they have the best selection for craft pendants. Grab your pair of pliers and open up the metal ring and place it in between the knot made previously on the tassel and clasp it and close the opening.

Step 4: Cut some of your lace based on how long you want it to be, or like me you can cut it short, and show more of the gold chain, which I thought looked a little bit more edgy. Then take your ribbon crimp and clamp it down at the edges of the lace.

Last step! Attaching the chain.

Step 5:  Last but not least, attach the chain to the ribbon crimp with the pliers and add the closing necklace hook, and your good to go, there you have it your very own spring lace tassel choker!

Current Fashion Faves

I hated the winter weather, but loved the winter fashion. Farewell to winter, here are some of my fashion favorites!

1. Ladue in Bordeaux Suede, Aldo ($38.00 on sale!)

I love this stunning burgundy beauty from Aldo, the color is gorgeous and was one of the most trendiest color’s for fall and winter. The purse’s flap is this soft velvety suede, and the other half is faux leather with sides that have this faux crocodile textured skin. The gold chain and accents, complemented the color well, so I decided to do a tiny DIY. I added my own gold accent piece, which was previously an earring! I crazy glued this gold lion knob, which I thought it gave it a nice extra gold touch to the purse.

When I saw this necklace on Ebay it instantly caught my eyes, with it’s quirky rustic feel; I definitely knew I had to have it, because it was a unique, beautiful center piece. It’s one of my go to necklace’s that spruces up any simple/casual outfit, I always get asked where it’s from!
